Thanks
Millie! I have to tell you that your emails meant a lot to me
and gave me strength. My prayers were answered!!! I found my cat
today (10 days after he disappeared)! After searching all day
for him, we decided to drive around our neighborhood one more
time before we left town for a few days. We couldn’t find him
anywhere, but had to run back home to pick up something we left.
As we approached our house, my husband spotted him three houses
down on the lawn of a house where he had hidden four year’s
earlier. He had hidden under the steps, which became overgrown
with sticker bushes. I had searched for him here several times,
and our neighbor even clipped the bushes for me, but he didn’t
show himself until this
evening. When I approached him, he ran back under the steps, and
it took me about 45 minutes to coax him out. I grabbed him, and
he did not resist. He is skinny and scratched from the thorns,
but otherwise seems fine.
Thanks for all your help and advice!

Thank you, thank you sooooo much, he is home! I swear, I
think it was just positive energy, I was feeling so down
before you came over, but after you left, I
totally got determined, he is limping and tired, but was in
the garage this morning. I know some people would think I
overreacted, but I know this boy and you were totally right,
he must have freaked and just gotten lost. You are so
wonderful, thank you again and please let me know if I can
ever help you guys in any way!!

Makeda
This is my
best friend and I’s Blue Merle Miniature Australian
Shepherd named Makeda (Ma-Kee-Da). On Tuesday morning March 7
my friend Michelle took her to get groomed. About 45 minutes
after she had been dropped off the owner of the grooming parlor
called her and said that Makeda had gotten out the front door. A
customer opened the front door and Makeda ran out. Michelle and
I went to our local office supply store and had around 600
flyers made with pictures of Makeda on them and posted them all
over town. I emailed the local news station and asked for their
help. We searched for Makeda for 8 days from dusk till dawn. .
We got a call on March 13 from a farmer saying he saw her in his
strawberry field; of course we drove like crazy to get there!!
No sign of her. The neighbor living next to the field said
Makeda had been staying around their horses for several days.
About 4 days in to the search
for her, Michelle had contacted Millie "The Pet Detective".
I thought Michelle was CRAZY!! I had no idea that there was any
such thing. Anyway, Millie had suggested us getting humane traps
and putting them in different locations of the horse pasture and
woods behind the strawberry field. March 15, we finally saw
Makeda with our own 2 eyes. We called her name and she ran from
us. That broke our hearts!! We never did see Makeda anymore that
afternoon. Millie told us to put Makeda's toys, our clothes and
some dog food mixed with tuna (for the smell) in the trap, leave
and let the trap do its work. Around 10:30pm that night, the
owner of the horses called me and asked me if we were ready to
come get our dog. WE COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!! We ran down through
the pasture and sure enough there she was!!! Makeda was lost for
8 days! We NEVER gave up looking for her. When we knew
there was nothing else we could do, we contacted Millie. WE OWE
HER OUR LIFE!! With the help of her knowledge and the caring
person that she is, we couldn't have done it without her. We
plan on making
a trip to N.C. to meet her and let her meet Makeda.

Allie
We never imagined that
our indoor cat of 10 years would slip out. After we completely
ripped our house apart looking for her- it hit us- she is out
there somewhere! We looked and called, called and looked. We
bugged every neighbor in the neighborhood. We called vet
offices, shelters, rescues, made up a million fliers and put
them everywhere. By day three- we were absolutely panicked!
We could not work, could not eat, and could not sleep. Nothing mattered except for finding Allie. All we wanted
was our family member back and we needed help! We went
to the web and did a search for search dogs and that is when
Millie and her dog, Sophie came in to the picture! From the very
beginning we could tell Millie was in this for the right
reasons- she cared. She knew our anguish and she made the 5
hour trip to help us. She moved quickly and was at our house
within a day of our contacting her. We were very fortunate that
she brought along another person- Hope and her search dog-
Copper. They set to work and were so amazing to watch! We
followed Allies scent and were able to pick up in her pattern. She was
sticking close to home and trying to enter houses all around
us. Though Allie was not found that day, Sophie tracked her
scent so that we were able to set traps in the area to bring her
home. We could feel it- she was not far! Two weeks after the
day she went missing – we heard a cats meow and frantically went
searching and there she was- next door! She was hiding under a
neighbors shed. She was OK! We found her! She was hungry, a
little dirty and thirsty but OK! We never gave up hope, we
looked everyday, and kept our eyes open everywhere we went.
We can not thank Millie, Sophie and the team enough for all
their hard work. Millie was absolutely supportive the entire
time. She would check in on us every so often and offer more
suggestions. Encouraged us in so many ways! What an awesome
service she provides and we are so thankful to have found her!
Thank you Millie, Sophie, Hope, and Copper!

Stompy
Stompy is finally home! A neighbor, responding to my flyer,
called to tell me that he had spotted my cat underneath a car in
the parking lot. I immediately went outside and there she was!
When she saw me, she was scared yet happy. She ran up to me and
was meowing a lot. I tried to pick her up but she was so
distraught, she ran from me. It took awhile but she did finally
come home. However, that only happened on her time! She ended up
following me to the front door. I left the door open and she
walked into the house cautiously. After a few times of walking
in and out, she finally decided to come in for good and ran
straight
to the bedroom door! I closed the front door and the week long
ordeal was finally over. Since that time, Stompy has returned to
her normal self again and has readjusted to indoor living as if
nothing ever happened. For a few days though, she was extremely
affectionate as if to say "thank you for finding me and not
giving up hope." At first, I didn't believe that anyone would
respond to the flyers - but surprisingly I had three phone calls
from very
concerned neighbors! I cannot reiterate enough how much this
really did help! Also, I thought after missing for almost a
week, my chances of seeing Stompy again were diminishing, but
that wasn't true either. You were right! Stompy never ventured
out very far at all (all the phone calls I received with people
spotting her were right next door) and in the end she was
literally right outside my door. Thanks for not letting me give
up hope and for all the wonderful, helpful advice. Thank you again from the
bottom of my heart for your continued support - it's so good to
have Stompy home again!

You have been
wonderful, even though you hardly had time to get very involved.
I think God had a hand in this, giving you the power to will
Rosco back home. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel
as if my life had been saved. Thank you again. (Gee, are you
wonderful!! I've been telling everybody here in Bear Paw about
you.)

To
Millie from Rosco:
Dear Millie:
You and I have never met, but from what my
buddy, Jim, tells me, I feel as if we have. First, I want you to
know that I have pretty much recovered from the bites and cuts I
got during my adventure. Maybe I should call it my misadventure,
because love in the deep woods, with all the insects and other
critters, isn't what it's cracked up to be. It's probably just
as well I feel that way because, from what I hear, after next
Wednesday with Dr. Van Horn, my urge will pretty much disappear.
That's just as well, really, because what I truly most want is
to be constantly with my beloved Jim. Now, where you are
concerned, I love you dearly for all your efforts and your
concern for me. Jim tells me you are a fantastic person and I
believe that. It is amazing to me that, when you didn't even
know me, you would care so much and try so very hard to arrange
my return to my home. Not many people would do that, and it
tells me how special you are. For what it's worth, I love you
very much and I thank you for all the help and comfort you gave
to my Jim.
With deepest affection,
Rosco

Shadow
Missing 8 days
I'm so relieved she's back home -- this literally makes
up for all the bad things that have happened to me in recent
years. I could not have gotten through this without your help --
and to think I hadn't even met you in person until Friday
afternoon. You and Sophie told me that Shadow was still in the
immediate area and you were right! Sophie provided all the clues
to let me know that she was still there and also told me where
to check. Without Sophie, Shadow would not be here today.
Be sure to
give slobbery kisses back to Sophie for me!
Take care and God bless!

Frogger
Dear Millie
Lost Aug. 15 Found Aug. 18 Missing 3 days
Thank
you so much for your knowledge and helpful
advice. This morning I woke up to Frogger's meow
in the baby monitor. I couldn't believe my ears. I ran
out to the trap I had placed the monitor beside
(farthest away in the woods), pulled the towel off
and there she was! I feel so fortunate to have gotten her back
the first night I set the traps out, two days before I am moving
30 minutes away. I am so very grateful for your suggestions and
your being so kind to loan me the monitor and traps. You are so wonderful! I will be sure to mention you to all my
animal-loving family and friends and highly recommend your
services.
Thank you!!!

Trauma
Missing 10 days
Thank You so much for the information you
sent. Believe it or not I believe that he was hiding in the
garage the entire time no more then 20' away from the open
basement door. The find your kitty information you sent was
right on the money. The jack mackerel I believe is what started
to make him cry for help - he never did come out - I had to move
half the garage to get to him. The only thing I can suggest is
to seriously stress to people that even if your cat comes when
called- or talks back to you under normal conditions - they just
don’t say a word when stressed and scared. I read that section
in the article but my cat talks so much normally I assumed he
would hear my normal voice in the basement working and talking
that he would call for me. It's why I left the door open all
the time. It was bizarre. He's skinny and freaked out but happy
to be home and eating well.
Thank You for your help!

Pucci
The
Little Italian Greyhound who beat the odds and defied sight
hound typical behavior!
Missing 4 days
Hi Millie,
We have GREAT news!!!!!!! Bob found Pucci this morning at
about the same spot where she was sighted yesterday, so that
flier at Walmart paid off. She is a bit flea and tick
bitten and still shaking, but seems all right. I am trying to
get a hold of the Vet to get her checked out. I am so
surprised that
she seemed to have basically stayed in the same area. I cannot
thank you enough for your help and I will
surely keep all those tips and advice at hand.
Gratefully yours,

Rainy
Missing July 19 Found August 15
Missing 28 days
Good,
good news. Rainy was trapped up the street from the house, up the divided road that runs in the
front of the house, about six houses up. We had returned the
traps to the Humane Society on Friday and that evening I saw her
dash across the street up this driveway. So Monday, I went back
for the traps, set one against a fence and another in the ally
behind this house (after getting permission). And she was in the
driveway trap this morning!!! Thin, with a few boo-boos but
definitely Rainy. She's in the bathroom, has eaten breakfast and
is awaiting a trip to the vet. She will get micro-chipped and be
sporting a collar with tags. Thank you so much for all your
help. Your advice was an immense help. Persistence pays!
Thanks again!!!
